Rashid Darden Elected to Lead Arts Fraternity
Philadelphia, PA, June 14, 2015— Gamma Xi Phi, the professional fraternity for artists, elected novelist Rashid Darden as National President at the fraternity’s biennial convention on June 13, 2015, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Several other members were also elected or reelected at that time.

Sculptor, Graphic Designer Initiated
Washington, DC, April 12, 2015— Gamma Xi Phi, the professional fraternity for artists, has welcomed visual artist Allen Uzikee Nelson and graphic designer Ernest Perry as honorary members of the organization. The initiation occurred as part of the fraternity’s line up of Incorporation Day activities.

Through all that has been going on in society, from Trayvon Martin to Ferguson; to people being excused for their wrong-doings, artists have been present. Art Show at National Harbor
The Beta Chapter of Gamma Xi Phi Professional Arts Fraternity, Inc.cosponsored "An Evening of Elegance and Art" with Spencer's Photography Services on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Whyndam Resorts at National Harbor, in nearby Fort Washington, Maryland. Brother Shawn Spencer exhibited enlargements of his best photographs and guests were treated to complimentary appetizers. We had an excellent time in fellowship!
Living Black History 2015: A Poetic Teach-In
On the last day of Black History Month 2015, the Brothers and Sisters of Beta Chapter, Gamma Xi Phi Professional Arts Fraternity, Inc., sponsored "Living Black History: A Poetic Teach-In." At this event, members of the community were treated to readings of some of the favorite poems of the members of the chapter. Spring 2015 Rush and Vision Board Activity
On January 11, 2015, Beta Chapter in Washington, DC conducted its Formal Rush. Part of this event was a vision board activity in which all members and prospective members created their own vision boards for their 2015 artistic, personal, and professional goals. We had a great time!
2014 Art Supply Drive for the Life Skills Center
Beta Chapter of Gamma Xi Phi in Washington, DC continued its relationship with the Life Skills Center of DC with an art supply drive. The Center provides an educational environment for adults with developmental disabilities and the supplies will be used for the arts program. Also collected were used DVDs for the Center's entertainment and recreation area.

Seasoned Artist, Emerging Hip-Hop Collective Initiated
Newark, New Jersey, October 15, 2013— Gamma Xi Phi, the professional fraternity for artists, has selected four new honorary initiates: visual artist, curator, and educator Nette Forné Thomas; emcee, producer, and engineer Ess Vee; visual artist and graphic designer Hue.Man; and artist manager, videographer, and web designer Add. The initiation was conducted on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at GlassRoots, Inc., in Newark, New Jersey.
Second Honorary Member Initiated
Washington, DC, August 12, 2013— Gamma Xi Phi, the professional fraternity for artists, has selected professional dancer and stepper Christopher Brient as an honorary member of the organization. His initiation was conducted on Saturday, August 10, 2013.
First Honorary Member to be Initiated
Washington, DC, February 18, 2013— Gamma Xi Phi, the professional fraternity for artists, has selected music archivist Kevin Coombe as the first honorary member of the organization. He will make remarks to the public on Saturday, February 23, 2013.
