Christopher Roderick Brient (1979-2020) was a dancer and stepper, and was the second honorary member of Gamma Xi Phi, initiated in 2013.  He died in 2020, becoming the second member to enter Omega Omega Chapter.  Following is an abridged obituary of our dear Brother.

Christopher R. Brient was born on June 29, 1979 in Houston, Texas to Bobbie & Cherlyn Brient.  

At the time he joined Gamma Xi Phi, he was the Assistant Artistic Director of Step Afrika!, the first professional company devoted to the art of stepping.  He began his life as a stepper at Jesse H. Jones High School as a freshman member of the Gents.  He enrolled at Texas A&M University where he became a Brother of the Pi Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.  He served as stepmaster for the chapter and also taught hip-hop dance.

Back in Houston, Chris became a member of Team NRG, the dance team for the WNBA Houston Comets, as well as the G-Force Step Team for the NBA Houston Rockets.  He joined the company of Step Afrika! in 2009 and subsequently traveled to over 50 countries, performing and teaching the art of stepping.

Never to be one to just sit around he became a performing “Team NRG” member for the WNBA Houston Comments and later for a brief period with “G-Force” Step Team for the NBA Houston Rockets.  He auditioned and became a company member of Step Afrika! in 2009 and began his many worldwide travels performing and teaching in over 50 countries.  After retiring from Step Afrika!, he moved to Atlanta where he collaborated with the percussive dance group SOLE Defined.
